The Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference is a high school athletic conference with twelve high schools in northern Illinois. The conference is divided into two divisions—East and West.

STREATOR — Streator’s Lady Bulldogs didn’t exactly get outslugged Tuesday afternoon under overcast, spitting skies here at the STHS Athletic Fields’ JV diamond. The Dixon Duchesses did, however, bloop, Texas league and seeing-eye single the Lady ‘Dogs to defeat. Streator softball fell 8-6 at home, allowing Dixon softball to earn its first Northern Illinois Big 12 West softball victory since the league’s formation in 2011. Sure, Markuson exudes eagerness, but he also takes fewer steps out of necessity. There’s little other alternative for a pole vaulter with cerebral palsy. Markuson’s calves, hamstrings and glutes tightened as his condition developed at birth. He walks with a limp, often on his toes, and can admittedly lumber down the runway at times. When he propels himself in the air, that hardly matters. According to Rochelle principal and league president Travis McGuire, the NIB12 will move forward with 10 teams and alter its divisional format.
